Investor Eligibility Requirements

  1. Aged 55 or younger
  2. English requirement of IELTS 5
  3. Relevant business experience required
  4. Must have at least $1 million investment fund
  5. Must have at least $500k settlement fund
  6. Must actively manage the business in New Zealand
  7. Dependents of age up to 21 can be included
  8. Must meet health and character requirements

Qualifying business

  • Must have been operational for at least 5 years
  • Must have at least 5 full-time equivalent employees
  • Must meet certain financial thresholds (eg, Turnover, etc). TBC)
  • Not on the list of unacceptable investments list

New Zealand BIV Advantages

Business Investor Visa
(3 years)

  • Invest $1 million or more
  • Minimum shareholding is 25% or more
  • Invest in a qualifying business
  • Create at least 1 additional full-time job for a New Zealander
  • Manage and run the business for at least 3 years
  • Eligible to apply for Residence after 3 years

Business Investor Visa
(1 year – fast track)

  • Invest $2 million or more
  • Minimum shareholding is 25% or more
  • Invest in a qualifying business
  • Create at least 1 additional full-time job for a New Zealander
  • Manage and run the business for at least 3 years
  • Eligible to apply for conditional Residence after 1 year

  • Dependents of age up to 21 can be included
  • Only the principal applicant is required to meet the visa conditions
  • After holding a Residence for 2 years, eligible to apply for Permanent Residence
  • New Zealand Permanent Resident Visa is lifelong, and no renewal is required
